RE: OS engines users Club

jzrf6c, I found this post by w8ye:
"The earlier Surpass I version with the silver valve cover, you will have to call customer service at Tower and they will send you a Zerox copy"
(Of the manual)

RE: OS engines users Club

z-plane, there were problems with some of the early .91FX engines and the remote needle assembly. I have one of these early engines and although I never had any problems with it, I upgraded to the...

RE: OS engines users Club

To anyone who hasn't had to go through their engine and is curious what the spiral gear drive for the O.S. camshaft looks like, I pulled this photo off the web. I haven't seen it posted here at RCU...

RE: OS engines users Club

How long was it submerged? The engine was shipped with the insides coated with oil. Maybe there was enough to protect the steel parts for a short time. Pull the back plate and glow plug and give it a...

RE: OS engines users Club

DLK, I'm sure it's like the adapter that comes with the new 1.20AX. It eliminates the need for a Pitts style muffler. I bet the problem is made right by Tower.

RE: OS engines users Club

DLK, I'm betting this lack of the 90° adapter is a mix-up between Hobbico, Tower and O.S. Since Tower advertised that it was to be included, they should be the ones to make it right.

RE: OS engines users Club

handyman, there is a screw with left handed threads on the cam shaft. Here is a link to a thread where it is discussed. I've never owned a 90 but I remember reading of folks breaking this screw...

RE: OS engines users Club

Jim, the manual give a range of 12x6 to 12x8, so the load of a 12x6 is at the low end of the prop range. The .61FX is a ringless taper bore engine and should not be broken in slobbery rich. 3 or 4...

RE: OS engines users Club

dr looby, the high speed needle on the .91FX is mounted remote at the back of the engine. The low speed needle is the screw head inside the boss opposite the throttle arm where the servo linkage...

dr looby, O.S. makes both a four and two stroke .91. Which engine do you have? Both engines have a low and high speed mixture adjustment.

RE: OS engines users Club

Here's a new kid on the block. It's a Bruce Thorpe Flyin' King powered by a .91 Surpass. Notice the thrifty and artistic using up of odd rolls of covering. That really is a .91; the Flyin' King is so...

I don't have any experience with the AX directly, just what I've seen. There was a young pilot out at the field here in Texas the other day wringing out his trainer. That thing was fast and would do...

RE: OS engines users Club

No C, Harry was saying that the wall thickness on the provided exhaust pipe is too thick, reducing the flow. I think he found a pipe with the same threads and a larger inside diameter (thinner walls)...

RE: OS engines users Club

Carter, I bet you don't get much feedback on O.S. 1.20 AX. You're one of the pioneers and will be giving us info in a few days. Just put a prop at the low end of the recommended range as far as load...

RE: OS engines forum

Carter, maybe you could go back and edit the title of the thread to "O.S. Owners Club" or something like that? ( I considered "O.S. Admiration Society" but that might be going too far. :D)
