Default JetLegend Buys BVM

Wut Da?

True??

Are the rumors true?

fenderbean made a reference to the Chinese buying BVM. And since it's no secret that jet legend jets are pnp BVM jets. So what gives?!

What would happen to Skymaster and Xtreme jets that they are dealers for?

If any non US based company buys BVM, for me it is a sad day to lose the best and perhaps the last US jet company.

I noticed most SM hardware is out of stock. JL is better quality than SM anyway, but they are S-holes.

I love the gross generalizations about quality. My experience hasn't been the same as what you state. The large SM planes are a few steps ahead in quality for the airframes and in a different league regarding the landing gear, scale detail, and paint.

Same generalization as FEJ. Some were salvageable, but we all decided to scrap them right?

Come on man, you're smarter than that. The issues with FEJ were wide and varied. Ive had a few JL planes and the quality was good. I've mostly had large SM planes and the quality is better.

Actually Ive had good FEJ models and bad ones, but I can conclude they are crap.
I've had good SM kits and bad ones as well....but in my experience unless you get the latest and greatest, they too tend to get crappy with time.
My last two SM F-16 I spent days cleaning the inside fuselage, getting dirt and resin residue out. Bad fit of gear doors, poor inner gear lining, big pockets of glue everywhere, heavy paint jobs and same Chinese pine wood everywhere. To their defense the gear is flawless, but now I read that others are not that lucky with the air cylinders. My SM cylinders have always leaked buy never to a point where it bothered me.

Anyway, I'd still buy SM, but not FEJ. And I will now stop so I don't get blacklisted. :-)

Best is subjective. They had more variety but my experience is jet model products quality was as good or better. JMP's only downside is a small selection of aircraft but what they do have is second to none. Having said that, if the rumor is true and bvm has been bought by jet legend it is indeed the end of an era and JL have big shoes to fill. Hopefully BVM staff will stay on so that customer service remains good.

The natural transition would seem for Patty to keep BVM and pops stays on as a consultant.

The hard part would be the engineering. Uncle Bob was/is top notch in that dept.

The quality of the Jet comes down to the individual building it, the materials and training they have been provided by the company and the companies commitment to inspect the product and assure quality before it leaves the factory.

In the world of manufacturing our jets are essentially hand made. They are low volume with a minimum amount of production tooling.

What happens at the "best" company when the star employee gets a more lucrative job and the guy (or girl) building your jet was planting rice on a farm 2 months ago.

It's possible to get a great jet from a bad company and a bad jet from great company. (I've had both)

Where the good companies shine is in their ratio of good to bad and their customer service to catch and fix what is bad.

Best of luck to all, hoping that all of your jets fall into the "Great" category.

Also comes down to the design. No matter how good the materials or build is, if the airframe is designed improperly it will not be successful. BVM's strength has been in design and manufacturing... their customer service is also top notch.

Oh I love a good rumour Raff. This one is especially juicy.

If it is true, they will no doubt make an announcement in their own time.

Until then, it will keep RCU going for a bit. Rumour being life blood of the internet..

It would be nice if they start making the Bandit ARF in China at 1/4 the cost. That would destroy the Flash. Did they also buy the rights for that special purple annodizing recipe?

If this is true, I hope who ever buys BVM would not (wishful thinking) start cutting corners and changing the design/build to reduce cost. AS you know, BVM jets have always been designed by Engineers including Bob himself and one can see how successful they have been. It is very possible that there may be some QC issues that the new owner will cause and the customers will suffer through.

Nevertheless, I'd love to buy a Bandit ARF MKII for $1500, Jeez, I'll get two color schemes!!!

BVM has always been open about any future plans, so maybe it's just talk
