Upgrading gearboxes in the mato Sherman
Hey guys, could anyone recommend some uprated gearboxes for a mato Sherman. I need some to do my Lee and my firefly

Is this the metal or plastic mato Sherman?
In the plastic hull, I used the mato 2.0 gearboxes. I modified the plate they come with by cutting it in half and narrowing the halves to fit. Then epoxied the plates to the hull after lining up everything correctly. They were perfect for that tank.

Yea the Mato gears will fit, I had them installed in my by the late Phil who was offering them installed in bare hulls as a package. They're secured with long M3 socket head bolts from the underside of the tank which seems to work very well.
I suppose the new ones would fit too. I'd also try to scrounge up some high-RPM motors as these gears with the Sherman sprocket make for a fairly slow tank.

Since I hate buying anything without a very detailed description it's taken me forever to find what a 480 actually is... but after a lot of digging around I discovered the best motors generally are anything labeled "RS 380SH 4535". They are MUCH faster than stock, and actually have more torque. Made the mistake of installing one in a tank without the other... the tank literally could not stop going in circles heheh...

I just ordered a bunch from Aliexpress, but I have found them on different robot parts stores, and eBay... Aliexpress was by far the cheapest option, they're going for like $5-6 a motor which is nuts for simple can motors like these.
