I agree. The soft mounts were popular 20 plus years ago and quickly dissapeared from the scene when most people, including me felt that it actually "amplified" vibration instead of helping...

By the way, took some time off, but almost finishing up my old Goldberg Ultimate renovation. Switched out to a 20cc gas engine and almost ready to re-maiden for flight number 501 as soon as the...

Nylon Bolts

The nylon bolts work great in the summer, but up north when it gets cold, they become really brittle and break too easily and you end up with bottom wing damage when they snap! Especially with nice...

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.

No, we needed to cut back the firewall because without doing it, the motor all the way back on the motor mount and the rear carb put us forward about an inch. that would make it nose heavy, so by...

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.

I don't think the hole would be big enough to weaken the firewall, especially if it was a circle. Just depends on where the carb mixture screws end up. I have two DLE 55's and have to come up with...

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.

Our motor has a rear carb and the distance from the firewall to where the prop backplate should be was 3/4" too long according to the plans, even with the carb touching the firewall.. We either had...

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.

What we found out from my brother who designed and built planes, it isbetter to move the heavier motor aft a little to make CG than to have to add weight in the rear to compensate for it. What Bill...

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.

Getting the CG restoration project closer to completion. Bill finished the fuse. We put it together to test fit the wings, landing gear, mount the CFG 20cc motor, etc. We checked the cg and it looks...

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.

Don't need a set of plans. Bill and I have a new kit with the new plans still unbuilt in the box. That is where he made all the aluminum templates of the whole kit. Every piece is made of aluminum....

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.

Bill started to make some templates to make a few backup planes after working on the restoration. He's been cutting out parts for the fuselage sides and tops along with some formers. He has been...
