This thing is not even clsoe to the Top Flight model. It is stand off scale this one is absolutely correct!
I've got to agree with John here. From a purely scale stand point this thing has the TF airplane beat hands down. Waiting to see how it compares from a quality stand point.

The weight comparison from the ancient 150 size sport P-51 from Hangar 9 is not a comparable. Yea the size is similar but that is about it. 2 ounce Chinese 3 inch tires on that plane to a pair of Robart 5 inch aluminum solid rubber tires on the corsair that weigh in at almost 9 ounces a piece. My point is the old Mustang was a sport model with no real scale options of accuracy on it. This one is a serious warbirds by all accounts. It handles the weight real well. If you like to fly quality warbirds you will love this model.

Just what we need, another corsair. now all you need is a p-47,p-51 and a spitfire the same size and do them in the same colors that have been done to death and we can enter you guys in the tard of the year contest. And you must charge at least 250.00 more because your IRON on covering is a lot better than the others.

I have the 150 size they sell now and I have robart electric retracts with 4" ESM aluminum wheels and I still come is under 16 pounds. But like I said I am most likely going to pull the trigger on this one. The wing loading does not bother me it just surprises me. I have ESM warbirds. And my 74" inch corsair comes in at 19+ pounds. It flys well. I do like the scale of this plane and all the extras that you get. I also like a poster above wonder if the 84cc gas that saito has would fit or will OS have a good sized gas out by then.

This thing is gorgeous. $1000 is gonna sting me, but I may have to get on line for it.

You're bad John....bad, bad, bad....I wish you had stayed with JetCat. It would have been cheaper for me..lol
So, question...how are the main gear doors operated? Robart air cylinders? Mechanical?

I think I need ANOTHER Corsair Whooohoooo !!!

Hey Dean,

They are operated with small servos. Or you can just cut the wheel opening and have a hole for the wheel like the old Byron program. Choice is yours. Dean, this one is really sweet!!!!!

This Corsair is awesome. It has everything that most modelers kit bash right from the get go. All 3 gear doors on the mains, sliding canopy, nav lights, bomb drops, 3 piece wing, and a nice looking cowl with exhaust. Hangar 9 did an oustanding job, and after I get my giant scale experience with my p-51 I'm ordering one. Maybe the price will go down closer to the top flite price by then...
Hats off to Hangar 9!!!

I'll be picking one of these up, too. What a nice model!

John... Any idea when they will be available?

Thanks Horizon!

Hey, no busting on my (your) 'ancient' P-51 1.50! I'm in the middle of converting mine to gas like Skillet. It's still a good looking, good flying airplane. This thread made me want to go out and jump up and down on the wing! Just messing with you John...

Excellent Dean. I think you will be happy.

Just for info ont he gear doors. The doors are included and the airframe has been designed with teh thought in mind to make them work. Making them work is all up to you guys. There is no hardware. Anyone with some basic modeling experience should be able to execute we believe. This includes the tail wheel doors as well.

Which Robert retract is this set up for. The 148, or the 150?

The landing gear are special units from Robart with a Hangar 9 part number. They are based on the 150 design.

$1k is a little steep.
and 28-32 lbs seems heavy for 85" wing.

would like to see how these compare to the ESM 50CC version.

John or Dave,

When will this be available? Do wheels come with this ARF? If so, what kind?

Looks very nice.

John or Dave.... Would the Saito FG84 be a good fit for this for someone who wants to go with gas?

The FG57 works well. I believe the FG84 will fit but have not checked as I don't have one.

No wheels with the kit. It is set up for the Robart 5 inch tires.

32lb flying weight seems really light for a plane of that size with a 3 piece wing and radial engine. Is that really the flying weight with a full tank? Did the prototype need any lead in the nose?

Wing area vs weight is what it is. "How it handles it" is a deep subject. And we have to freelance on the gear doors? Dont get me wrong, I live this plane already, but I also will have to see reviews first. Horizons reviews saved me from a grave mistake already.

Prototypes took lead in the nose. Pretty standard for any scale corsair. Byron's used to take between 1-2 pounds. This one is in the 1 pound arena of lead in the nose.
