Bill Jensen has had the ASP since July 26th. His shop was closed for about eight days in August. At no time did he state he had a delay in the process. I'm not going to contact him because I want to see how long it takes for him to get back to me on the repair progress or lack of it. I'm in no rush, but just curious about the turn-around time.

Hmm... Hope all is well with Bill.
I sent off my Enya 240VT and recollect about 6 weeks to get it back. The idle jets on the twin carb factory set up was all out of whack and I'm still dialing it in. We talked at length on the phone and he mentioned that getting parts was time consuming as many had to be imported from Asia. Altech used to carry parts for Enya but I think they have washed their hands of Enya as it isn't the popular engine it once was.
I bought a front bearing for the OS.91 but couldn't find any rings. I'll keep searching.
Here's to hoping you get your motor back soon.

Dave,
Futaba makes a "Servo Server" which I am presently setting up on another biplane with 4 ailerones... It costa bout $70 but seems to work well so far....you can trim all 4 servos ( or two in your case) individually..... may be a reater expensive solution to your situation but a good item to be aware of.

Ray, guess what arrived by FedEx today? No warning from BJ's but yesterday I received a phone call from FedEx about a shipment.
Four stainless bearings, valves de-carbonized and lapped, reconditioned heads (?), run-in and assorted gaskets totaled $567.50. Parts totaled $92.00. New engine is $777.00. We'll see how long it lasts. Pics below are the bearings.

Pricey. I know your glad to have it back in hand.
I'd show you the bearings out of my VT but I would be too embarrised at my proof of neglect.
I ordered a main bearing for my OS .91 and should be in today along with a new OS 110. I'm going to go on the hunt for a gasket kit and maybe a new ring.
I got to head out to Jacksonville tomorrow to help my daughter with some medical tests. Hopefully, I can get my new cub a few more flights Sunday.

Today I had the Fleet out to see how the newly rebuilt ASP radial would do. I have some issues with the throttle where I had made a support for a long arm that was fabricated to allow me to attach the throttle pushrod outboard of the engine mount. It seems to interfere with a smooth throttle operation and I think it makes it hang up every so often when I go to full throttle. I'll deal with that tomorrow, but I have some video from today.

Nice job Bob ! That engine really hauls it around with authority...and also sounds great. I was particularly impressed with your steady smooth flying...like on rails and a joy to watch....and nice use of your rudder to boot. Wishing many more fun years with the bugs worked out now.

to get my issues resolved, I had to upgrade my Internet Explorer to IE10. I had been running IE9 for so long so I guess other systems just don't cut the mustard anymore.

Over a year since any posting. I'll change that with a little update on my crashed Fleet and it's upcoming rebuild.
After a 10 year retirement, I got my Concept Fleet back and began to update it. First off was to send the engine off to have it looked at. I knew the front bearing was rusty but.... I'm embarrassed. Second, was to give it a good look over and dusting then re radio the bird with newer 2.4 stuff.
After some engine issues (trying to dial in the idle rpms) , servo issues (new servo was intermittently inop), I got her airborne and nearly forgot how to fly. The idle issue got me ruffled as I had a dickens of a time trying to slow down for landings. On the last circuit around the close in field, I got a dose of dumb thumbs when rolling into final approach. At least I got some nice touch and go on a short field.
Had I 10 more feet of altitude, I could have saved it from the very soft and recently plowed cotton field. Anyway, pix of the aftermath and some pix of the overhaul beginnings.
Having decovered the wings looking for major damage to the Concept spar construction, I was most surprised to see them in tact. Wrapped in fiberglass tape proved an important task not to forget. The plywood spar blades where the wings slip onto each other or onto the fuselage proved to be a necessary weak point that fractured first and took the brunt of impact. They were a dickens to get out of the pockets as the hex head screws that held them in where sheared off and cause much angst to remove without any more damage.
I'm jazzed as I could have this old girl up and running next Spring.
